Originally built in 1893 at the mouth of the Chicago River, the Chicago Harbor Light was then moved to a breakwater out in Lake Michigan, where it is today. It was constructed of steel over brick to withstand the ravages of life on Lake Michigan. It has a third-order Fresnel Lens, which was on display at the Columbian Exposition in 1893.
