Located on Jupiter Island where the Loxahatchee River meets the Atlantic. This 105-foot lighthouse, designed by George Meade, the Union commander at the Battle of Gettysburg, was constructed in 1860 on a 40-foot mound of oyster shells to enhance the light's reach to the ocean.
