The plant itself is virtually unknown. Its stylized leaves adorning the capitals of Corinthian columns. Over time acanthus leaves became ubiquitous décor in furniture, jewelry, engravings, paintings. They are spiny and toothed and curl conveniently, which makes them fit any shape and form.
